Koozies
provide cushion and a soft and pliable surface that a person can easily grasp in his hand. They are designed for comfort so that the drink holder does not have to worry about touching a wet, cold container or having it slip out of his hand. Koozies also ensure that the liquid inside the container will stay cold or hot for longer than just a couple of minutes. All these properties can be attributed to the materials used to make them. Substances like foam and neoprene are the most popular options, and both manage to achieve the same overall effects while maintaining subtle differences that might be preferable to some people and not others.
Foam is the most common material in constructing koozies. Widely available and abundant in supply, foam substances are used because of their malleability and insulating properties. People enjoy the soft, smooth surface that foam can create, which allows the koozies to be held for longer periods without discomfort. Foam is most often used in conjunction with models that fit over cans.

Newer foam materials are lighter in weight than the basic foam substance that is most commonly attributed to koozies. While typical designs involve a thin, lightweight foam material, some beverage sleeves are fashioned from a hard foam product. These koozies do not flatten out and can stand without the support of a container.
The newest and most effective material is neoprene. Koozies fashioned with neoprene enjoy the same material that is used to make wetsuits. Neoprene is a type of synthetic rubber that is employed in manufacturing goods and items for the purpose of insulation. Neoprene koozies are high quality, durable, and lightweight. Beverages that are encased with a neoprene sleeve stay colder longer. Neoprene quality is desirable for beverage holders that will be handed out at as gifts, such as with weddings and wedding koozies.
